Description
“Flowers on the beach” is a tradition that has been made by many children, parents, and grandparents on the Belgian coast for more than 120 years. They craft a colorful flower with crepe paper, a stick, and wire, and create a beach stall with multiple flowers.
Children learn to negotiate the price, make friends, and engage in creative activities. The price of a flower is paid with seashells. Depending on the seaside town (Ostend, Knokke, Nieuwpoort,…), the currency (the shells) varies. Sometimes they are “couteaus” sometimes a handful of ordinary shells,… In this workshop, you will learn how to make a flower.
